PE Kit

New York pupils take part in regular PE lessons and are advised to bring PE kit in school on a Monday and keep it in school during the week, taking it home at the weekend.  Children should be equipped with correct uniform for the activity and time of year.

PE kit consists of;

  • black shorts
  • white t-shirt
  • black sand shoes are worn for indoor PE lessons.
  • Pupils wear trainers for lessons outdoors.
  • There are occasions where pupils will work in bare feet.

 In colder weather pupils are encouraged to bring sweatshirts, hoodies and tracksuit bottoms or joggers for outdoor PE.

Pupils are discouraged from wearing sports clothing with sport logos.

Jewellery

In the interests of safety no jewellery should be worn at school, other than one pair of small ear studs and a watch.  Studs must be removed for P.E lessons and children should be able to do this themselves or leave ear studs at home.

 Teachers can not take responsibility for loss of items brought to school.

Please wait until the six weeks holiday before having children’s ears pierced as this is the length of healing time expected.

 Hair

It is advisable to have long hair tied back when in school.  New York Primary discourages extreme hairstyles and parents are advised to consider the impact this has on school and attitudes to learning.

It is at the Head teacher’s discretion that a pupil may be sent home until grown out.

 Long hair must be tied back for swimming in accordance with the pool rules.  Your child may be excluded from the lesson if they breach this.
